As a kid I liked drawing horses. I ended up back at the drawing board, and now design products that improve the way people live and work. In our neighborhood, the kids call me "the guy who always walks his dog", but they all know her name is Lady. They also see me in our backyard mowing the lawn or harvesting from the garden with my long sleeves and cowboy hat in the middle of the summer. I'm a far cry from a cowboy, but man do I fry.
I'm amazed and love to prepare and eat food that I grew from a little seed I planted months ago. This feeling is similar to my dream to be a daddy. I look forward to seeing my little kiddo grow up and thrive because I was there to provide support and nourishment. My life's thesis statement: I want to make the world a better place one smile at a time.
What makes Doug a #1 Dad? (from Marianne) Doug's best quality is his patience and positive attitude. Doug has worked with many children and always encourages them to think with their imagination. He once helped my younger brother build an Iceberg House out of Styrofoam for a school project. Another time he drew animals for his nieces to color and then helped them attach the drawings to wooden skewers to make a puppet show. He knows how to play with children, which I find is an important quality in an adult. It helps build their trust in him and helps build their confidence. Doug works as a webelos leader in the Cub Scout Program. On Wednesday nights he helps 10 year old boys set and fulfill goals like hiking, tying knots, or fire safety.
The moment Doug met Samantha, he was wrapped around her little finger. He's jumped into parenthood with both feet. He does night feedings, wants to change poopy diapers, and loves to dress Samantha up. He takes her everywhere. She was only a week old when he took her on her first chore: "walking the dog" Doug makes Samantha laugh uncontrollably and she is so excited when he comes home from work. He received the #1 Dad hat from his co-workers and wears it proudly where ever we go. There is no job too big or too small for Doug and He will fulfill it with a smile.
Doug is my best friend. He has a can do attitude. He is kind, gentle, funny, and a big kid at heart. He makes friends easily and loves to make people laugh. He is an entertainer. He loves to sing, dance, perform, or be goofy.
At a Dance we attended, he found an audience when he danced the Macarena faster than anyone else there.
He is loyal, honest and treats me like a Queen and Samantha as a princess. He thinks of others first before himself. He does simple things like when he goes to get himself a glass of water, he asks if I want one too. If I don't answer, he will bring one anyway.
Doug is a hard worker. He enjoys completing projects. He rarely leaves a project undone. He knows how to get his hands dirty. He lives by the motto: Fix it Up, wear it out, make it do, or do without. Just this last week, my alarm clock was making a noise, so he spent his lunch hour taking it apart, cleaning it up, and then put it back together and it was good as new.
